Feeling 2022

As we round out another year - it’s a great time to reflect on the past year and plan for the future year. Whether you make resolutions or not, with some time off for the holidays it’s conducive to contemplating!

Resolutions for me are often smaller and more of a to-do list and to finish list. The new year is like a fresh page in a new notebook - ready to be filled out. Not every page needs to be brilliant but the combined contents makes it all worthwhile.

This year I have several things I’m planning for 2022! Some I will share and some you’ll have to wait and see!

For starters as my new house is being built, I’ll continue to spend this year finding all the things I’ll need like lights, and area rugs and blinds. I’ve made some progress already but have a ways to go.

January is always a busy time in a Pilates studio so I am committing to keeping up my workouts. Planning ahead and putting ‘me’ on my schedule is the only way I get in a decent workout.

I am also committed to finishing the Stott Teacher Training by taking the written and practical exams this Spring. Legal issues at the studio with my lease and the need to go to court several times to secure and then retain a restraining order against my landlord put this on hold. I’d like to finish what I started and now seems to be a good time to dive back in.

I recently participated in the Pilates Suspension Method retreat with Rebecca Beckler and I’d like to continue to incorporate these movements into our classes. There is some trial and error to be done because our systems are a bit different and to be quite honest were not hung properly. I am exploring ways to remedy this and also to work with what we have in the mean time. There is still much that we can do so stay tuned for that fun to come.

I continue to work with a functional medicine Doctor to get my gut right and eliminate my SIBO. I’ve made quite.a few changes to my diet and eating habits and I want to continue on this path. i’ve never been a coffee or tea drinker but my Doctor suggested I start drinking tea. Funny enough that is one of my resolutions! I have found a few that I actually like … for me it’s some what of an acquired taste but I’m getting there! This time of year a warm beverage hits the spot. We’ll see how I feel about tea in the summer heat, however!

Another area I’d like to focus on is reducing my screen time on my phone. It’s just a bored habit and we all know at this point social media can be more toxic than enlightening! I’d like to get back to reading books more … and for now those books are probably Stott Training manuals but there are some novels in my future, too!

This is just sampling of what I am hoping to focus on in 2022. It’s 365 days of opportunities and I want to use them well!
