Community

Earlier this week I had a fellow Pilates Teacher come to the studio for a private session. I had met her in Austin back in May at the Align Pilates Summit. She lives in Nashville not far from where I used to live but we never met there. Her parents live here in Surprise. Small World!

We had so much fun talking Pilates and sharing about our studios, hopes, hassles, and wins. Being a studio owner can be a bit isolating. I don’t work in an office with coworkers. I do have a few instructors but we aren’t usually in the studio at the same time. I believe it’s so important to connect with people who really get what you are going through - your own community. I keep in touch with my Pilates teacher family online but nothing compares to some quality time in person!

Later that same day I received a text from another Pilates Teacher friend who lives in Lafayette, Louisiana. She needed some advice so we hopped on the phone and had a quick call. I was able to share what has worked for me and she shared some ideas to help me as well. Between both of these interactions I felt reenergized and reignited about my Pilates work. Community can do that!

One of the aspects I am so proud of with our studio is the community we have. I have loved seeing friendships being made, students encouraging and supporting each other, and inquiring if someone isn’t in class. It gets harder as we get older to cultivate a community but I truly believe our studio is serving that purpose for so many!

Pilates has so many physical benefits such as toning, strength and balance. I don’t think we give it enough credit for the social and emotional benefits as well! Pilates helps you Shine in more ways than one!
