A Month of New!

It’s a weird time and it can feel a bit monotonous. Vacations aren’t happening as much, events are canceled and there isn’t much to look forward, too. I needed some inspiration. I needed some new. I needed something to look forward to this Summer. I decided to take the month of July and challenge myself to do something new every day! It’s been a lot of fun going to new places, trying new things and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I just may continue this into August because I’ve enjoyed it so much.

Here’s a look at my ‘new to me’ list:

July 1 - Cooking Class with Beth Kronenberg at KitchenShift. What a great experience! My girlfriends and I learned a lot and had so much fun, too! This was something I had been wanting to do for about a year, and I finally made it happen.

July 2 - I ran a new path. I get stuck in my routes so it was fun to try a few new streets and mix it up!

July 3 - I tried out a new place - Whiskey Bear in the Summit. I had never been there before and it was a pleasant experience. I’d go back

July 4 - I attended a luncheon with a lovely group of ladies. Not only did I meet some new folk. It was fun to get out of my yoga pants and dress cute for a change!

July 5 - Volleyed tennis balls at Woodland Park. I can’t tell you how many times I have driven by and thought I should do this. I had fun - I wasn’t great but that didn’t matter!

July 6 - Took an online Pilates workshop my girlfriend created. I just love her approach and creative use of imagery. I had this on my list of things to do … and with no new options for today - this moved to the top of the list.

July 7 - Went to a movie at the Lexington Theatre! I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to check out this theatre - what a fun time.

July 8 - Found a new trail at Veterans Park - what a good find! I’ll definitely run that trail again.

July 9 - Tried a new face cream I had received as a sample. Feels good!

July 10 - Found another new trail to run at the park - how did I miss this one before? Good find

July 11 - Went to a cookout in a new to me part of Kentucky. I’m definitely exploring my surroundings more!

July 12 - Started a new podcast - the Doctor’s Farmacy! Very good.

July 13 - Picked up my first prepared meals from KitchenShift! I like to cook but I’m also excited to have some healthy prepared options to look forward to as well.

July 14 - Tried a new Pilates online course and also picked up a new cookbook from the Doctor’s Farmacy Host Mark Hyman

July 15 - Meet with a new Make-A-Wish kid. It is true you get more out of volunteering then you put in! Also drove to Nicholasville - I’m not sure if I have been there before but it wasn’t as far as I had thought!

July 16 - Dropped off food from my pantry to God’s Pantry. This was my first time going here and during quarantine, I did some serious label checking - corn is an issue with me. So many items have corn starch and corn syrup in them! Not good for me - but maybe okay for someone else!

July 17 - Tried another new to me park - Kirklevington. And picked up my newly strung and gripped tennis racket!

July 18 - Live music at the Stave! So fun to get out and do something with live music.

July 19 - Tennis lesson!!

July 20 - Benefit event at the Kentucky Castle for Studio 11 - what a fun event and a great opportunity to meet a few new people. I also tried the juicery for the first time - yum!

July 21 - Grease at the Kentucky theater with the girls. I am pretty sure this is my first time seeing this movie in the theater.

July 22- Trivia Night at KSR Sports Bar. I had wanted to try out this sports bar and I liked it.

July 23 - Tennis lesson 2 - I’m counting this as another new experience because I learned some new skills. I’m really enjoying

July 24 - First time going to the Burl! I loved the outdoor setup they have created and enjoyed the music

July 25 - Took a walk downtown with a friend and had drinks at the Infinity Skybar!

July 26 - Back to Raven’s Run for trails but I tried a new path! Also invited a group of college friends to come to try Pilates for the first time. It was so fun introducing them to Pilates!

July 27 - Started a new book - the library if finally open for pick-ups again and I’m glad to have a new book to read.

July 28 - Cooking class with KitchenShift! This time we did salads and home-made dressings - delicious!

July 29- Facial at the Castle and also spent a few hours at their pool - so fun! A little local get-away!
